Journey to New Life

In “Journey to New Life,” beginning April 11, 2021, we will explore the life cycles of our bodies, spirituality, beliefs, customs and traditions, relationships, communities and even organizations like churches.
On March 7 we will begin a new series called “The Walk: Five Essential Practices of the Christian Life,” based on the book by Adam Hamilton. There will be a virtual study of the book to go along with the worship series. Copies are $15 each (we do have 2 large print available) and you can reserve your copy by calling the church office or ordering online. You can then pick up your copy during office hours.
Please be sure to register for worship.
The five areas we’ll be exploring are:
For our upcoming series “The Walk,” we want to hear about your faith journey. Please let us know as little or as much about your faith journey as you’d like. We’ll compile the stories into videos to share in worship.
Our series “Reveal” will run from January 3, 2021 to February 28, 2021. During this series, we’ll explore various people from the Bible as they correspond to a number on the Enneagram.
Our Advent Series, “Socks & Underwear: Gifts You Need, Not Necessarily Want” will run from November 29, 2020 to December 20, 2020. During this series we’ll be collecting new socks and underwear to distribute to organizations that help those in need in our community.
Our two-week miniseries on Galatians will explore what it might mean to all be one, based on Paul’s well-known verse in Galatians 3:28:
There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
This series will run November 15 and 22, 2020.
“Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” is a sermon series based on Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. It will run September 20, 2020 to November 8, 2020. During the series, we’ll have a guest each week to talk about the different neighbors in our neighborhood here in Kankakee County.
In Person Worship
We are so excited to be meeting in person in our sanctuary again starting this coming Sunday, September 20th. Please remember that due to Covid-19 restrictions, you will need to register ahead of time for each service you plan to attend. You can do that online, through the Church Center app, or by calling the church office at (815) 939-4433. We will make sure to have socially distanced seating and ask that you wear a mask. Temperatures will be taken when you arrive, and if it is 100.4 or above, you’ll need to return home (where you can always access virtual worship). You can read the other guidelines here or in The Challenger you received in the mail.
Text Message Updates
We are implementing a text-messaging system for announcements and updates that are time-sensitive. If you would like to receive these, please fill out this form or let Pastor Kelly know the information she needs–your cell phone number and provider. This will enable us to increase communication about important reminders or when worship is cancelled due to weather. We’ll be sending out our first reminder later this week!
Mailing List
We hope you’ve been getting your weekly bulletin/news in your inbox, but if you haven’t or if it’s been sporadic, it could be due to gmail addresses being sent to spam. We’ve recently changed the email address for that to hello@cccbourbonnais.com, so hopefully if you haven’t seen it, you will now. If you want to make sure that you are on the email list (it’s opt-in, so you have to request it), please check with Pastor Kelly and she’ll get you added if you aren’t on it.
Virtual Community
Are you a part of our online community? Be sure to like our Facebook page if you haven’t already. You can also ask to be added to our chat group there (for announcements and information) or our online prayer group to ask for prayer requests and give support to those who need it. We also have a presence on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube if that’s what you prefer.
With the heavy rain and lightning we are having and forecast to have through noon, we are canceling live worship this morning in the interest of safety. Pastor Robert and Pastor Kelly will will host a chat on Messenger at 9:45 from the church. Please enjoy virtual worship this morning at 10:30 on FB or anytime on YouTube and we hope to see you on the lot next Sunday.
