This coming Sunday June 2, 2019 we’ll celebrate our graduates–8th grade, high school, and college. Each of them has made a great achievement in life so far and we are excited and happy to celebrate with them and see them on to the next phase of life.
Our 8:30 am summer service, ARISE, will begin on June 2. Shorter than our regular 10:30 worship service, ARISE is done by 9:15 so you can have the rest of the day ahead of you.
Our Farmers Markets will begin on Wednesday, June 5. This year, we’ve got a new name, logo, website, and social media accounts. You can find all the info at www.market102.com. There will also be 3 Cruise Nights along with the markets, which will benefit Blessings in a Backpack River Valley.
Our markets are a great way to connect with and buy items from local farmers, artists, and other vendors.
Our annual Ladies’ Night Out will be on Monday June 10, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Tucci’s, located at 1560 IL-50, Bourbonnais, IL 60914. Sign up at church if you can, but don’t let that stop you from coming and bringing a friend. You can also just let Lisa Garcia know by texting or calling (815) 530-2174.
This Sunday, April 28, we’ll begin our new series on the book of Acts. It’s called Unexpected: the unlikely, ironic and surprising stories in the book of Acts. In what ways does God act unexpectedly? What unexpected events have happened in your life? How can you be an unexpected blessing in the lives of others?
Worship is every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome, and we hope to see you here…unexpected or not.
Our services this year for Holy Week will be at 6:30 pm on Maundy Thursday and 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Good Friday. Our Maundy Thursday service will be our annual “passed meal” (bring finger foods) followed by a drama. Good Friday’s services will be identical so you can choose the time that is best for you, and will offer a multimedia worship experience of music, readings, video, and more.
Our Easter message this year will be From Sorrow to Joy. We’ll begin with our annual Easter Brunch at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome!
“Very early in the morning on the first day of the week, the women went to the tomb, bringing the fragrant spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. They didn’t know what to make of this. Suddenly, two men were standing beside them in gleaming bright clothing. The women were frightened and bowed their faces toward the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?”
This study will help us discover why Jesus commanded that he be remembered in the breaking of bread and why the church continues to celebrate the risen Christ by gathering around the table.
Meets every Sunday night during Lent from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Our new Lenten series, On the Move with Jesus, will begin on Ash Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Begin Lent by walking a guided, self-paced path of meditation and reflection on scripture and images, and receive the imposition of ashes. The sanctuary will be open from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
Our journey will continue through Lent, exploring the places Jesus moved, in physical locations during his lifetime, and through every part of human experience, experiencing what we experience: temptation, joy, suffering, death.
