We are on a Journey of Transformation

We are celebrating our 30th Anniversary at our current location in the Village of Bourbonnais. For three decades we have seen both growth and decline in membership as the Village expanded further north and west of our location. In 2010, when our current governing documents were most recently updated, we were not growing as a congregation in membership, mission or ministry. We began our Journey of Transformation as a Congregation in October 2012 as we sought God’s vision for the future of Central Christian Church. Our Vision Leadership Team explored our history, the current demographics of our community, options for the future of our congregation as an effective witness for Christ, recent trends in mission and ministry with newer generations and the structure of our ministry together. In 2014 we proclaimed God’s vision for Central Christian Church is to be an authentic Welcoming Community of Disciples of Christ. In 2015 we took another step on this journey as the VLT was transformed into a Constitution and ByLaws Committee by Board appointment to review our current governing documents in light of our vision and the current demographics of our congregation and community. The Committee which has met bi-weekly since September 2015 has recently completed the task of revising our governing documents. Congregational Listening Sessions were help on February 7th & 21st to offer opportunities for feedback from members.
